Trainee Depositary Accountant

Reports to Depositary Manager

The purpose of this position is to contribute to the delivery of the routine day-to-day functions of a depositary to a portfolio of Aztec Group clients, under the direction of a Depositary Manager.

Key responsibilities:

  • Delivering the daily cash monitoring and reconciliation obligations for a portfolio of depositary clients through the use of a checklist suite. This includes working with a team and/or with the client to source relevant documentation, to support any cash flow activity observed in an efficient and effective manner.
  • With the support of your team, collating documentation from internal and external sources that supports our clients’ fund investment activity both as it occurs and for periodic reconfirmations.
  • Providing support in verifying the ownership of the assets of a fund.
  • Supporting process design, development and improvement activities.
  • Maintaining accurate fund accounting records on eFront software and fund documentation records on
  • Assisting with the maintenance and monitoring of routine depositary information requests and queries through correspondence with the client and/or other Aztec teams.

Skills, knowledge, expertise:

  • A successful university graduate with a strong academic background, or an equivalent accountancy qualification.
  • Sound technical financial services knowledge; previous experience of working in Accounting is desirable, although other work experience will be considered.
  • An eye for detail, strong organisational and communication skills, the ability to work to fixed deadlines, a good degree of initiative as well as a desire to provide high levels of client service.
  • A willingness to read and interpret domestic and EU regulations and legislation, primarily related to Alternative Investment Funds.
  • Computer literacy skills are essential.
  • The candidate will have the right to work in the UK, and will be expected to study towards a relevant professional qualification (ACCA or ACA), which will be supported through the Aztec Academy. As Aztec is a highly regulated organisation, the candidate will be expected to comply with the requirements of all relevant UK and EU regulations.
