Jim Whittingham,
Director

Responsible for a portfolio of UK onshore private equity structures, Jim oversees core outsourcing activities undertaken in our Southampton office, including fund launches, investor take-on and queries, bank administration, financial reporting and regulatory assistance.

As well as heading up a number of client relationship teams, Jim is also the operational lead in our Southampton office for direct funds. He works closely with the business development team in all aspects of new business for onshore funds, from supporting with pitches and proposals to managing the client onboarding process.

Background and experience

Jim joined the Aztec Group in 2007 as a Financial Reporting Manager based in our Jersey office. In this role, he was responsible for the preparation of accounts and financial reports for a portfolio of private equity and real assets clients.

A year later, Jim relocated to our, at the time, newly opened Luxembourg office to lead the establishment of their accountancy function. This key role entailed building the team and implementing processes and procedures, including a consistent Group-wide approach to financial reporting.

Jim transferred to our Southampton office in 2011 to support with the launch of our UK onshore offering. Initially focused on developing our onshore financial reporting capabilities, Jim’s mandate expanded to cover management of key client relationships and support of promotional and other business development activities that aided the growth of the Group’s presence in the UK.

Prior to joining the Aztec Group, Jim worked for Jersey-based independent firm Rosscot, where he broadened his knowledge of audit, accounts preparation, tax and further developed his management skills.

Jim’s first professional role in the financial services sector was with Alex Picot Chartered Accountants, a five-partner firm in Jersey. There he qualified as an accountant and progressed to having responsibility for tax, audit and accounts preparation for a diverse portfolio of clients.

Qualifications

  • Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
  • Degree in English and American Literature from the University of Warwick.

Outside of the office

Above all else, Jim has never lost his passion for his degree subject and still loves to read. When he’s not got his head in a book, Jim is usually spending time with his three children. He also enjoys film and music, and is a lifelong supporter of Aston Villa.
