Our Commitment to Young People’s Education and Wellbeing Across Our Jurisdictions.

At Aztec Group we have a commitment to helping young people improve their life opportunities through access to education, as part of our Sustainability Strategy, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Access to Education.

The Group believes that education is a powerful tool for transforming lives and creating positive social change, but also recognises that many young people face barriers and challenges that prevent them from reaching their full potential. That’s why the Group is supporting a range of initiatives across its jurisdictions that aim to empower young people and provide them with the support and opportunities they need to thrive in education and beyond.

Some of the initiatives that the Group is involved in include:

  • Providing funding and the time of its people to support the financial literacy initiatives at Vale and Hautes Capelles Primary Schools in Guernsey, which gives school pupils practical, hands-on experience in understanding the real value of money and making their own financial decisions.
  • Partnering with Motiv8, a local youth charity based in Hampshire, UK, that supports vulnerable young people by providing them with a safe space, mentoring, counselling and positive activities. The Group has also funded a book library vending machine for the charity.
  • Supporting Jersey Association of Youth and Friendship, which works proactively with young people who are having a tough time and helps them develop the skills they need to live independently. The Group is supporting a number of individuals with educational fees, as well as assisting with the charity’s open gardens fundraising initiative.
  • Leading a food collection for Brighter Futures in Jersey, to provide children in need with breakfast during school holidays, collecting over 40 boxes of food. The Group also support two young families and have undertaken ‘donate your lunch’ initiative to raise further funds for the charity.
  • Partnering with Heights Philadelphia, an organisation dedicated to helping students graduate high school and achieve economic mobility through college or workforce success in the US. The Group’s US team volunteered at a local organisation, ‘Girls on the Run’, for their annual 5K. This charity inspires girls of all abilities to strengthen confidence and other important life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and physical activity.
  • Supporting Caritas in Luxembourg, to provide unaccompanied minor refugee children with food, shelter and access to education, as well as additional support where needed.
  • Assisting ABC Jersey, to bring the Coopafeel! Boobette’s team to the Island educating over 2,000 secondary school children in breast cancer awareness, in addition to two presentations open the public working alongside the Jersey mammogram team.

Tania Duncan, Head of Sustainability at Aztec Group, commented: “We are delighted to be supporting these amazing organisations that are making a real difference in the lives of young people across our jurisdictions.
