Senior Financial Reporting Manager- US Real Estate Fund Services

Purpose

The purpose of this role is to develop and lead a team providing fund accounting services to a portfolio of mid-market and institutional real estate investment managers.

Aztec Group is a market leader, with over 1,600 staff across our six offices and AUA of over $600 billion. Having opened our first US office in 2020 in the Philadelphia area, we have significant growth plans for the US market.

The successful candidate will become part of the US office’s Senior Management Team and will have an entrepreneurial mindset and be able to work in a dynamic and fast-growing environment.  They will also have a deep understanding of  the alternatives space and be able to use this knowledge to provide high-quality client service and develop the team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate, nurture and develop engaged employees in accordance with Aztec’s values
  • Responsible for the management of a portfolio of high-quality clients, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction and a proactive rather than reactive service
  • Oversee the audit process for all clients within the team, building strong relationships with audit firms
  • Ensure the accounting requirements and reporting deadlines for a whole team are met, overseeing planning, scheduling, and monitoring of workloads
  • Partner closely with peers across the Group to strengthen cross jurisdictional relationships with colleagues and mutual clients
  • Maintain and build client relationships ensuring that the delivery of client service meets agreed service levels
  • Develop and enhance relationships with client advisors, intermediaries and other introducers of work
  • Act as a mentor to Financial Reporting Managers and supervise and assist in the training and development of staff
  • Actively manage the appraisal process for all direct reports
  • Act as a higher authority on day-today queries and as “A” level 4-eyes signatory on client matters, ensuring that company policy and professional and regulatory guidelines are adhered to and that professional quality service is provided to clients and outside contacts
  • Act as an “A” signatory for Aztec Fund Administration LLC
  • Contribute towards the business-as-a-whole, for instance, in identifying improvements in policies and procedures that apply across the business; create a holistic approach to administration
  • Co-ordinate billing of team’s clients, including analysis of time spent and monitoring of debtors
  • Review WIP incurred and utilise across teams to ensure that extra billing opportunities are identified, and appropriate action is taken
  • Participate in new client proposals / pitches as necessary, and manage the onboarding of new clients
  • Participate in client fee negotiations

Location

The primary location for the role is Aztec’s Philadelphia office. There is also the opportunity to work flexibly from home.

Skills, Experience, Qualifications:

  • CPA qualification will be preferrable (but not compulsory)
  • Experience of working with Yardi as the primary real estate accounting platform
  • The candidate is required to have proven relevant experience in the real estate sector
  • Sound technical financial services knowledge (to be supported through the Aztec Academy)
  • Computer literacy, word processing and spread sheet skills are essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to develop close working relationships with colleagues, clients and intermediaries
  • Experience in a similar role either in-house or at outsourced service provider
  • Strong people management experience and experience in leading teams
  • Team leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop others
  • Solution-orientated and high level of integrity and dependability
  • Effective communicator in both written and oral communication formats
  • Experience and track record of day to day management and supervision of a team
  • Evidence of full responsibility for a major client relationship(s)
