Reports to Head of Tax
The purpose of this position is to support the set-up and delivery of Aztec Ireland’s tax service proposition in co-ordination with the Group-wide model as well as contributing to the local management team.
Key responsibilities:
Clients and business development
- Support the Head of Tax, the Head of Ireland, the Business Development team in proposing for new tax services opportunities in Ireland
- Be the primary point of contact for Aztec Ireland tax service clients and communicate effectively with them
- Work effectively within Aztec’s multi-service and/or multi-jurisdictional client teams to ensure that information is shared effectively, relationships are built and maintained
- Deliver high levels of client satisfaction across the Tax service client base
People
- Play a key role in the recruitment of the tax team in Ireland
- Line manage, coach and support the training needs of the tax team in Ireland
- Be the contact person for the Luxembourg tax authorities
- Work with the Aztec Ireland leadership team on any jurisdictional wide people considerations as required
Operations
- Be the contact person for the Irish tax authorities and clients’ third party tax advisors
- Review the preparation of Irish corporate tax returns, the calculation of tax provisions and the review of tax assessments
- Maintain appropriate records of our clients’ tax affairs, the work we provide on their behalf and associated filings
- Consistently and comprehensively deliver Aztec’s internal control framework and processes
Finances
- Support the Head of Tax with the development and delivery of the Aztec Ireland Tax services budget
- Support the Head of Tax, the Head of Ireland, the Business Development team in the pricing of new tax services opportunities in Ireland
Governance
- Contribute to Group and/or jurisdictional-specific Tax service projects, as required
- Work effectively and collaboratively with the Tax service teams in other jurisdictions, initially Luxembourg
- Implement the Group-wide tax service strategy insofar as it affects Aztec in Ireland
Skills, knowledge, expertise:
- At least 8 years of previous experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for in the alternatives space in Ireland
- A relevant Tax-related qualification such as Chartered Tax Advisor
- Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is desirable
- A relevant undergraduate degree (accounting, finance, or business) is desirable
- Fluency in English is required
- Advanced Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with diverse client teams
- Attention to detail to ensure the delivery of consistent and high standards
- Excellent organisational and people skills
- A commitment and desire to deliver high-levels of client service
- Ability to think critically and creatively, work under pressure and within tight deadlines
