Cara McErlane,
Director

Private Equity, Guernsey

Cara is responsible for a broad portfolio of private equity funds, leading and overseeing several client relationship teams in the execution of various core outsourcing activities. These include fund launches, investor onboarding and communications, company secretarial, structure administration and financial reporting.

She also sits on boards for numerous Group clients, and is a member and Guernsey representative of our people committee. In this capacity, and as someone with a passion for personal development, Cara provides direction on a number of the company’s policies and processes relating to staff training.

Background and experience

Cara joined the Aztec Group in the summer of 2013 as a Financial Reporting Manager. After proving vital in the establishment and management of multiple client relationships and having significant involvement in a number of team development and other Group-wide initiatives, Cara worked her way up through the ranks, eventually reaching the position of Associate Director at the beginning of 2018 and Director in 2022.

Prior to accepting her role with us, Cara worked as an Assistant Manager for KPMG. After spending three years based in the firm’s Guernsey offices, she seconded for a two-year placement to Auckland. This position saw her significantly developing her expertise within the audit space, leading several audit teams in the provision of services to a range of private equity funds and captive insurance companies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management and Marketing from the University of Lincoln.

Outside of the office

As well as enjoying travelling and being a PADI-qualified Advanced Open Water diver, Cara is also Vice Chair of the GIFA Education Sub-Committee. There, she plans and runs GIFA Academy events and director’s forums, working closely with local schools to increase awareness of the Island’s fund industry among young people.
