Charlotte Light,
Chief Technology Officer

Charlotte has overall responsibility for the Technology function with a remit that covers strategy, change delivery and service management. As Chief Technology Officer, she ensures the technology strategy is aligned to the wider business plan and addresses both internal and client technology needs and priorities, while overseeing the management and direction of the Group’s dedicated IT teams including Enterprise and Client Applications, Infrastructure, Service Delivery and Information Security.

Based in the UK, Charlotte sits on the Aztec Group Executive Board, with a Group-wide remit across all operational jurisdictions.

Background and experience

Charlotte joined the Group in March 2021, is a technology transformation specialist, who brings a breadth and depth of experience from different industries including media, medical, and retail. She also has a background of working directly in the technology sector.

She was previously the Chief Information Officer at Channel 4, where she and her team defined, delivered and supported Channel 4’s technology strategy and systems with a specific focus on the digital product agenda. Charlotte brings extensive experience in digital and new technology and how it applies in all aspects of business – from driving innovation to managing day-to day-operations.

She spent the first part of her career in a range of senior business development and consulting roles with IBM and BUPA, before joining Specsavers. As IT Director initially in Supply Chain and subsequently responsible for Corporate Systems, Charlotte was responsible for managing all aspects of Specsavers’s IT strategy, demand and delivery to their corporate lines of business.

Charlotte is also an Advisory Board Member of the Institute of Coding. Here, she supports the development of digital skills initiatives in line with business demand by sharing insights and context into industry needs and demands.

Qualifications

  • Masters’ Degree in Applied Marine Science with Ecotoxicology from the University of Plymouth
  • Degree in Environmental Science with Archaeology from the University of Winchester

Outside of the office

Charlotte enjoys family time relaxing at home and keeping fit with yoga and using her Peloton bike. She also enjoys travel, and her favourite destination is the Madikwe Game Reserve on the border of South Africa and Botswana for peace and respite away from technology and the hustle of work.
